Moonlight Tour Join us Friday night when we visit the Japanese-American Historic Plaza then ride MAX to the Expo Center where we'll take in the sites and sounds of Valerie Otani's Torii gates. Witness her tribute to the Japanese-Americans who made the Portland Assembly Center their home during the WWII internment. The tour begins in Nihonmachi, historic Japantown, immediately following the Opening Reception at the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center. This guided tour is free thanks to TriMet's generous support. |

City Sites Plan to include a Rose Festival event. In its 99th year, Portland's premier summer event, will end the weekend of RTG with the Portland Arts Festival and Champ Car Grand Prix. Find sanctuary in the tranquil beauty of the Japanese-American Historical Plaza, Japanese Garden, International Rose Test Garden and Portland Classical Chinese Gardens. Walk or run on the banks of the Willamette River; an approximate 3-mile loop connects Waterfront Park to the East Bank Esplanade by crossing the Steel and Hawthorne Bridges. Before leaving Portland, find gifts and souvenirs at the Saturday Market (open Sundays too) and support Portland's artisans. |
