C.R.E.A.T.E Initiative 2010-2011
The CREATE Initiative—the Community Rallying for Exploration and Artistry in Taiko Expression—gives YOU the opportunity to SUPPORT Portland Taiko’s artistic, education and outreach programs and special projects.
In the past the community has supported us in the commissioning of new works, the purchase of new drums, and in 2010 the creation of innovative taiko productions and community outreach.
Campaign Goal
The goal of the 2010-11 CREATE Initiative is to raise $50,000 to support three exciting creative projects for Portland Taiko’s Home Season, and to purchase new taiko to support our education programs.
Your support helps us CREATE:
• PT will present an exciting spring Family Show, "Ponta, Ponta!" based on our new assembly program, Together: A Taiko Journey.
• Our Summer concert will feature commissions by some of the best North American Taiko composers: Kenny Endo, PJ Hirabayashi and Ringtaro Tateishi.
• Our 2011 season will culminate with "Beat Salad: The Best of Portland Taiko" — a first ever audience and performer chosen evening of PT Favorites.
• For our residencies, Portland Taiko needs Hira-daiko (the short body drums) that are more transportable and usable by the children.
