C.R.E.A.T.E Initiative 2009-2010
The CREATE Initiative—the Community Rallying for Exploration and Artistry in Taiko Expression—gives YOU the opportunity to SUPPORT Portland Taiko’s artistic, education and outreach programs and special projects.
In the past the community has supported us in the commissioning of new works, the purchase of new drums and, last year, with the creation of a new production, Oregon Lost & Found, and our 15th Anniversary season concerts.
Campaign Goal
The goal of the 2009-10 CREATE Initiative is to raise $40,000 to support two exciting creative projects for Portland Taiko’s Home Season, and other artistic, education and outreach programs:
• PT will work with Mike Barber, creator and presenter of the popular Ten Tiny Dances dance series, to create Ten Tiny Taiko in the Spring, 2010.
• PT will bring home the nationally touring version of its 2007 hit concert, The Way (Back) Home, featuring selections from our newly released CD Rhythms of Change.
• Education and outreach programs will reach over 15,000 school children and 10,000 diverse community audiences with performances, workshops and residencies.
