I saw Portland Taiko perform growing up and participated in a gomidaiko workshop when I went to Richmond Elementary. I started playing taiko in fall 2023 with Ahiru Daiko at the University of Oregon.

I enjoy the collaborative and uplifting nature of taiko and the feeling of being lost in a piece bigger than yourself. I especially like the musicality of taiko and how it requires playing with your entire body.

Outside of taiko, I enjoy: cooking, crossword puzzles, hiking, fishing and playing other musical instruments, drumset, piano and bass guitar, but I'm a percussionist at heart.

The taiko community is uniquely kind, passionate and conscientious. There's nothing quite like it.
