Every summer the Nikkei community comes together for an afternoon of food and fun. This year’s picnic is Sunday, August 16th, 2026 from Noon-5pm at the Oaks Park Dance Pavilion (7805 SE Oaks Park Way, Area 11-13). The event is free, but there is a $5 fee for parking, payable on site.

Fried chicken, a vegan entree, watermelon and shave ice are provided. Please bring your favorite side dish to share. To ensure variety, the organizers suggest bringing a dish that corresponds to alphabetical grouping below:

• A-Ki: Salad or veggie dish

• Kl-Sa: Rice or noodle dish

• Sc-Z: Dessert or bread

Please contact JACL if you’d like ride bracelets. Only those who RSVP by August 10 will be guaranteed a bracelet.

Portland Taiko and our student Community Group will perform during the picnic. The exact time is TBD, but usually after lunch.
